Job Summary
The Senior Accountant – Attest leads public accounting engagements, executing audits, reviews, and compilations for a diverse portfolio of clients. This role bridges the gap between field staff and managers, taking ownership of file execution, financial statement preparation, and client communication while ensuring compliance with AICPA, GAAP, and GAAS standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Engagement Leadership: Plan, execute, and wrap up complex attest engagements, including audits, reviews, and compilations.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, footnote disclosures, and management letters in accordance with GAAP.
- Staff Supervision: Train, mentor, and review the work of staff accountants and interns on engagement teams.
- Risk Assessment: Identify internal control weaknesses and accounting issues, proposing practical solutions to engagement managers and clients.
- Client Advisory: Serve as a primary point of contact during fieldwork, managing timelines, requesting deliverables, and resolving testing questions.
- Budget Tracking: Monitor engagement progress against budgeted hours and deadlines to ensure profitable delivery.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of recent experience in a public accounting firm, specifically within an audit or attest department.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting (150-hour requirement met or close to completion).
- Credentials: Active CPA license or actively pursuing the CPA exam.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of GAAS, US GAAP, and modern audit software.
- Core Competencies: Strong project management skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to articulate complex accounting issues to clients.
- No Relocation must live within 40 miles of Amherst, NY
Compensation: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
